Heart to Heart is a ministry designed to empower women through love, sharing, prayer and the ministry of the Word. It all began with a brain storming session with some of my friends. What is it that women need? What is it that women don’t need? We decided we didn’t need one more thing to do in our over-crowded, over complicated lives. We didn’t need any more guilt. But we did need connections; we need help balancing the craziness of life in the 21st Century. And many of us need to find healing for emotional wounds of the past and present. We’re so busy taking care of everyone else we rarely have the time or energy to take care of ourselves. So we asked ourselves THE question of the afternoon. How do we do that? How do we provide women with connections, help with the hectic pace of life and emotional healing?

Heart to Heart was born. It wasn’t going to be women’s ministry as usual. It would begin with a small group ministry to help women make connections. The meetings would open with an informal time of food and fellowship. The teaching that followed would examine a trait passed on to us by our Heavenly Father and includes a look at one of the women in Scripture whose life illustrates this trait. The overall theme of these studies is who we are in Christ, and how we can draw on the attributes of God that He has placed within each one of us.

The curriculum isn’t about what we “hafta” do to be better women, wives, mothers or daughters. It’s about learning to see yourself as your Heavenly Father sees you; complete in Him, valuable to Him and adored by Him. Just like our natural fathers, He has passed many of His own attributes on to us. So it is not about one more thing that we have to do in order to be that “good woman,” it’s about recognizing the traits passed to us through our spiritual DNA by our DAD. I want each woman going through this material to recognize that it is not about what you do that makes you valuable, it is about who you are.

As we learn to accept that we are valuable and loved by our Father, that love will begin to overflow to others… It is a natural progression from God’s heart, to our heart, to others. The purpose of this course is to allow God’s love and acceptance to so permeate our being that it naturally flows out to others in need of love. It’s not something that we do; it is who we are. What can be accomplished through women who know who they are, recognize the qualities given to them by God, have accepted their purpose, and are rested, loved and free from guilt? It boggles the mind doesn’t it? After the lesson, women break into their small groups for discussion and prayer. This is where the real ministry takes place. Our curriculum has expanded to help women to deal with our “stuff” so we can learn to rest in the comforting and loving arms of our Heavenly Father.

Our goal is to help you to recognize who you are in Christ so that you can effectively minister to the world around you. The small group ministry is for the personal health and growth of women in the local church. The small group ministry is just the beginning. The small groups will reach out to women elsewhere through special events, seminars, retreats and conferences. We also support organizations that minister to women in need in our region and are now working to establish a safe house for troubled young teens and provide counseling for women in crisis. The vision to help women includes reaching women of the nations through Heart to Heart conferences worldwide. We have plans for conferences in the Philippines, Indonesia, Turkey, and South Africa in the coming year.
