My Heart Sings a New Psalm

by Kim Ferguson

My heart sings a new psalm

It rejoices to a new tune

My arms rise with new praises

a new love song fills the room

My eyes shed new tears

for renewed joy felt within

My lips speak of new mercies

He grants time and again

My spirit yearns for new desires,

with new devotion and affection

My feet tread a new path

with new purpose and direction

My life has a new call

a new passion ready to bloom

My soul has a new life

forever with my bridegroom

Her Faith

By Kim Ferguson

How can her smile be so bright

with her whole world crumbling down?

She doesn’t even know how she’ll make it,

but she doesn’t even crack a frown.

I’ve seen others in this situation

and it always ended in disaster

so what makes her think she can pull through

just by calling on the one that she calls Master?

Every time she gets in a jam,

she stops and bows to the floor.

She prays and thanks God for her answer,

gets up, and says it’s not her problem anymore.

She says her God has made promises

to those who in His Son believe,

to never leave or forsake them,

and precious blessings they may receive.

And though trials come that are painful,

and there seems to be no cure,

she says to always be thankful,

for it’s your character that will mature.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

Can I Find a Love

by Kim Ferguson

Can I find a love

that’s not based on emotion

but is evident and seen

in steadfastness and devotion

Can I find a love

in whose words countenance is raised

not by self-serving flattery

but sincerity of praise

Can I find a love

that doesn’t keep track

of all the past wrongs committed

or the perfection that’s lacked

Can I find a love

patient for a change of direction

as the Lord works on the faults

and the things in need of correction

Can I find a love

that won’t spread the news

of the failures and shortcomings

or bad choices others choose

Can I find a love

that won’t shy away in fear

of speaking the truth in love

of the things a friend needs to hear

Can I find a love

that has no need to be the most

or the best or the brightest,

or to compete or to boast

Can I find a love

like my Savior displayed

to this undeserving sinner

by His life that He laid

Can I find a love

one that’s based on this truth

love is not something you feel

but is something you do

Can I find a love

if I search long and deep

can I find this love

somewhere inside of me?

No One Loves Them More Than You Do

By Kim Ferguson

I may have bore them

inside of me

dried their first tears

met all their needs

taught right from wrong

and what is false from what is true

In this world

no love surpasses

the profound love

that a mother has

but I know no one loves them more than You do

Past curfew hour

by the window

they’re not home

I start to tremble

unspeakable images cloud my thoughts

I start to fear

Then to my mind

I do remember

Your omnipresence

now I surrender

all my anxieties ‘cuz where they are,

You are near

As I release them

from my care

they are bathed

in my daily prayer

into a world so cold that does not know You

But You are able

to keep them grounded

in Your protective arms

they’ll be surrounded

because no one loves them more than You do

Closer Than a Brother

by Kim Ferguson

I did it again

and I know there’ll be tears

my account just gets larger

with every new year

seventy times seven

has long past been met

Is it easier to forgive

than later live with regret

But a friend that’ll be there

in spite of the hurt

looking past the offenses

that values your worth

knows that pride’s a true evil

and resentment another

That’s a friend that sticks by you

closer than a brother

Yes, you have taught me

the real way to love

not the kind that’s strong one day

but fades when it’s tough

knowing that no one is perfect

and least of all me

Your agape demonstrates

the kind of friend I want to be

Cup of Tea

Song Lyrics by: Monika Bourgeois
From the Album ” From the Mind of a Christian Girl”
Hey, Where’d you get your Patience?

Cuz’ I lost mine the other day

and at the store I heard them say,

that they don’t have my size no more

and “No Return” sign’s on the door…

Mm, where’d you find that virtue?

I used to have the prettiest Lot..

Now where I left it, I forgot

I must remember to stock up

along the way and save some for a Rainy Day…

(OHs)

Ooh, where’d you get that fire?

Been awhile since I fanned my flame

It’s a good thing that you came,

I might’a just’ve fizzled

and there would be some kind of drought

Wow, where’d you find those standards?

Now see, mine used to be that high

they’re lower now, I don’t know why

the race is on to build the view back from the sky

(OHs)

Now I guess I should say thank you

Your shining light it shines so bright

that it has inspired me

to be an even better me

thanks for the opportunity

to see and be all I can be

and thank you for this CUP OF TEA…

Now, If I could only find my Keys….

Fragments of a Broken Heart

Lord, I created this place I’m in
I laid its foundations with bad decisions
I built its walls with misguided hope
I stood afar and viewed my workmanship
No pleasure came from my labor
Struggling, I stood with my face against the wind
With tears I watched as everythng fell
The foundation began to shake
The walls cracked and crumbled
Fragments are now all that remain
Fragments of my broken heart

I Love Lemons

O.k., I’m going to “Flip-Modes” on you.

Tea time this week was inspired by Bigelows “I Love Lemon” tea.

Before I even tried it, I selected it as this edition’s winner, not because of its flavor, but because of its name.

You see, this week, my daughter began behaving a little differently. My usual “sweet as equal” six year old was taken over by  a strange sour-puss.

Requests to pick up toys,  study spelling words or pick up after a crafting project were responded to with complaints, sighs of aggravation and occasionally a deaf ear.

I was tempted to buy a book on “Sign Language” and whack her with it. “Can you Hear me Now?”

The little girl who is usually “the reason why I SING!” was becoming “the reason why I SCREAM!”.  She was feeling a bit brave, testing her limits to see how far she could go before reaching troubled waters.

Funny thing is, there’s a very tiny part of me that’s actually enjoying this. If she’s going to put someone to the test, I’d rather she be comfortable enough to try it with me. I don’t take it personally.

Maybe because I know I put my husband through this routine at least once a month. Or maybe because I’m confident that no matter how “unfair” she says it is, I’m giving her the best that I’ve got, which will probably never include a $500 tree house mansion. She better call “Paul Bunion” and “Get to Choppin’!”

It’s one of those ‘When life gives you Lemons’ scenarios. Which is why I picked “I Love Lemons” tea.

Tart enough to make you twitch, sweet enough to forgive and power through to the end.

You gotta try this one.

Deep End

by Monika Bourgeois

Lyrics from the story “I Love Lemons” and
the title Album ” Line Upon Line”

Sometimes/ Right after a battle
I”ll swim in the shallow
Just to get my bearings/
Before I jump back in
Back into the ocean
Where faith proceeds emotion
I’ll wade until you come and take my hand & lead me back

(chorus)

Back to the DEEP END

Where nobody finds

an easy way to win

Where hope is the only way

To keep myself afloat

in the DEEP END

(v2)

Sometimes/I come out the water
Footprints leaving puddles
Just to feel the warmth of your sun
Shine on my skin

I shiver in the breeze that
brings me to my knees
Im praying that your strength will keep me safe
as I go back

(Chorus)

(vamp)

When I look in the water
My foolishness & fodder
All seem to disappear in your reflection
and you have no recollection
of what I’ve done/ or where I’ve been

In the DEEP END…….

Free

by Nori Joaquin

How my heart was so entangled
My mind so consumed
In the night I cried out to you
Free, free you declared
The chains were broken off
Out of bondage I came
The light consumed the darkness
The truth consumed the lies
Rejoice, rejoice my heart sings
My feet are dancing to a new song
A song of freedom everlasting
