Thanksgiving Prayer

Lord,
We humbly ask Thy blessing
On the turkey and the dressing,
On the yams and cranberry jelly,
And the pickles from the deli.

Bless the apple pie and tea,
Bless each and every calorie.
Let us enjoy Thanksgiving dinner
Tomorrow we can all get thinner.

For all Thy help along the way
We’re thankful this Thanksgiving Day.
We’re thankful too, for all our dear ones,
For all the far away and near ones.

Although we may be far apart,
We’re together in my heart.
Keep us in Thy loving care,
This is my Thanksgiving prayer.

P.S.  Anyone who wishes
may help with the dishes.

October

Daylight isn’t around as much
It starts to get colder
Halloween is almost here
Another year, I’m getting older
I need some time off
I can’t wait for the summer
The October sky is good
Dark, cold, lonely, like me
The music plays better
My spirits adapt to the dark
As far as life, I’m at my best
It’s the only month
Where I’m not sad, but not really happy
Content is a better description
I wish it could be October
All year long
I wish in a year
I’ll go away and be found
October will always be here
Even if I’m not around.

Because

by TD Jakes

Just because no one has been fortunate enough to
realize what a gold mine you are,
doesn’t mean you shine any less.

Just because no one has been smart enough to figure out
that you can’t be topped,
doesn’t stop you from being the best.

Just because no one has come along to share your life,
doesn’t mean that day isn’t coming.

Just because no one has made this race worthwhile,
doesn’t give you permission to stop running.

Just because no one has realized how much of an
awesome woman you are,
doesn’t mean they can affect your femininity.

Just because no one has shown up who can love you on
your level, doesn’t mean you have to sink to theirs.

Just because you deserve the very best there is,
doesn’t mean that life is always fair.

Just because God is still preparing your king,
doesn’t mean that you’re not already a queen.

Just because your situation doesn’t seem to be progressing
right now, doesn’t mean you need to change a thing.

Keep shining, keep running, Keep hoping, and keep praying,
Keep being exactly what you are already. COMPLETE!!

BEING A WOMAN OF GOD!!!!

Back To School

THINGS MOM SHOULD HAVE KIDS PUT IN THEIR BACK PACKS:

Rubber band - to remind you of hugging and those times when you want to give a hug or want to receive one

Tissue - to remind you to dry someone’s tears (or perhaps your own, so you can see the tears of others)

Button - to remind you to “button your lips” to keep from saying mean things about others or talking when it’s not appropriate

Toothpick - to remind you to “pick out” the good qualities of everyone - including yourself

Band-Aid - to remind you of healing hurt feelings, either yours or someone else’s

Candy Kiss - to remind you that everyone needs a nice treat occasionally

Gold Thread - to remind you that friendship is the golden thread that ties together the hearts of everyone

Eraser - to remind you that everyone makes mistakes sometimes, and that’s all right

Lifesaver Candy - to remind you to think of me as YOUR “lifesaver.”  Whenever you need to talk, feel free to come see me!!!

Mint - to remind you that you are worth a MINT to me!

Angels Care

Angels are all around.
Though they don’t make a sound.
We never see their brilliant wings.
And on their arrival no one sings.
We don’t hear any trumpets blazing.
But their deeds are still amazing.

They can be the face of a stranger.
When we are faced with mortal danger.
They can be the face of a true friend.
When we just want our life to end.
Helping us smile when feeling down.
When we feel like we’re about to drown.

They can be the face of a family member.
When we don’t want to remember.
When we just don’t know how to cope.
Showing us that there’s always hope.
They can be the face of you and I sometimes too.
Returning the kindness someone once showed you.

So when we feel like it’s us against the world.
When life’s threads seem to come unfurled.
When we feel like we just can’t go on.
When a loved one has passed or gone.
When we’re buried in our own sorrow.
When we don’t want to see tomorrow.

An angel will be there.
To show us they care.

This Says It All

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don’t do what they’re supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT……..

Sisters are there,

no matter how much time and how

many miles are between you.

A girl friend is never farther away

than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you

have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life

will be on the valley’s rim, cheering you on,

praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on

your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the

valley’s end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk

beside you…Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,

daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,

Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended

family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn’t be the same without women, and

neither would I. When we began this adventure called

womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or

sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we

would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

Giving Thanks

Have you heard about 4-year-old Sammy who was asked to return thanks before Sunday dinner?

The family members bowed their heads in expectation, and he began his prayer:

“Thank you God for all my friends: Joey, an’ Susan, an’ Billy, an’ Tommy,” and on and on he went, naming each friend one by one.

Next he thanked God for Mommy, Daddy, brother, sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and all his aunts and uncles.

Finally he got to the food.

“Thank you God for the turkey, an’ the dressing, an’ the fruit salad, an’ the pies, an’ the Cool Whip…” And then he paused.

The pause was almost deafening, and all eyes were focused on young Sammy with his head still bowed in prayer.

Finally (almost when Father was about to interject an “Amen”), Sammy looked up at his mother and asked, “If I thank God for the broccoli, won’t he know that I’m lying?”
I’m grateful we can thank God even for things we don’t like… Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ… And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose..-Ephesians 5:20, Romans 8:28 …

Because when I begin to thank God, even for things I don’t like, it is easier for my perspective, through escaping the entrapment of my self-centeredness, to gain a more complete view of the greater picture of God’s masterpiece at work in me.

Words Women Use

Fine - This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

Five Minutes - If she is getting dressed, this is half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

Nothing - This is the calm before the storm. This means “something” and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with “nothing” usually end in “fine”.

Go Ahead- This is a dare, not permission… DON’T DO IT!

Loud Sigh- Although not actually a word, the loud sigh is often misunderstood by men. A “Loud Sigh” means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over “Nothing”.

That’s Okay- This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. “That’s Okay” means that she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

Thanks- This is the least used of all words in the female vocabulary. If a woman is thanking you, do not question it; just say “you’re welcome” and back out of the room slowly.

Forgetting You

To my daddy, I’ll always be your little girl.
Love you forever and always
Sitting alone staring into space
But all I can see is a memory of your face
I still smell you when I put your t-shirts on
I wish you were here but sadly you’re gone
I’ll never forget you though I sometimes wish I could
You were there with me through everything, the sad, the bad, the good
I lie awake for hours staring at the ceiling
No one understands the vicious hurt I’m feeling
But you would have understood, you knew everything
Whenever I needed to talk you were the one I’d ring
You meant the world to me, you still do
And everything I achieve in life I do it thinking of you
For months after you left me I pretended not to feel a thing
But I felt so guilty if I was happy, smiling, even laughing
I feel you now watching me; it gives me warmth like a summer breeze
I know you’re in no pain now, and I’m glad you’re free
But I wish you could share your freedom with me
Life without you is driving me insane
So I’m forgetting you, forgetting the pain.

Life Lessons

You may have thought I didn’t see,
Or that I hadn’t heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.

Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we’d grown apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It’s written on my heart.

Without you, Dad, I wouldn’t be
The (woman)(man) I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.

I’ve grown up with your values,
And I’m very glad I did;
So here’s to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful kid.

Every day the whole year through,
I feel grateful you are my father.
Some fathers don’t have time for their kids,
But for you I’m never a bother.

You always make the effort to listen and share;
You’re always there when you’re needed.
It warms me to know how much you care,
And with that knowledge my worries are defeated.

Dad, you are truly admired and adored,
And as your daughter, I hope that you know,
These sentiments fill me each day of the year,
And my love for you continues to grow.

Happy Fathers Day!

Always There For Your Daughter
